INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION FOR PARENTS!
For information about keeping our students safe when the weather gets cold, please see the attached directive from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (INFO). Although the mandate is to keep students inside when the temperature drops below - 25o Celsius (- 28oC with the wind chill), we keep a close eye on the weather and will keep students in the building when the temperature drops below -22oC. Students are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and dress warmly on cold days!

Principal’s Message
I trust that you have had a festive celebration of Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
I wish to thank the entire school community for making my entry into St. Francis of Assisi such a welcoming experience. I am excited about the things that have been accomplished in this vibrant school, and look forward to working with you as we develop and grow. My hope is that we journey together in faith to become the school that everyone else wishes to be a part of. God bless you for a very successful 2010!

Full Day Kindergarten
The province recently announced that the Ministry of Education will be providing full day Kindergarten as part of the province's plan to build a stronger school system and a well-educated workforce. The province has also indicated that this program will be phased in over time, starting in September 2010. Please check out the For Parents section in the menu bar for more information.
CARNAVALE @ SFA!
Please keep your eyes open for the list of events that will take place during the week of February 8th to February 11th in order to celebrate CARNAVALE! This includes "CARNAVALE de FAMILLE" night, that takes place at St. Francis on Tuesday February 9th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.!

HELP FOR HAITI
Over the last two weeks, SFA has held a number of spirit events in order to raise money to support the Haitian relief effort. The week of February 1st to 5th, we have had spirit days where students have been encouraged to bring in a 'twoonie' (or other amount) to participate. Although these donations help to support our efforts, students are encouraged to participate whether they are able to contribute or not. Students are welcome to listen to the announcements and have fun being involved.
KINDERGARTEN PLAYGROUND
We are currently putting a team together that will work on improving our kindergarten playground. This team will include staff and parents and will work on developing a common vision of what we can do to develop a positive space for our kindergarten students.
